[PCR-1000] AM Band reception

Hey Everyone....

Typically I don't listen to broadcasts in the AM (broadcast) band on my
PCR-1000 but decided to (try to) tune in a local radio station this =
evening.
I found myself very disappointed with the performance throughout the AM
radio band.  I tried both my long wire shortwave antenna, and my dipole
scanner antenna.  At best I could receive a couple of local stations =
(weak
reception, albeit evening transmitter power rollback), and other, =
slightly
more distant stations (which can be received on my am/fm clock radio) =
are
completely dead on the PCR-1000. =20

Is this typical with other PCR-1000 owners (all of you)?  I'm wondering =
if
it's time to pack er' up and ship this back for some repair work or =
possibly
the radio just doesn't perform all that well throughout that band (I've
checked for EEPROM corruption, and that seems fine).
