Makes me think about the commercials I saw in San Jose area recently for
cheese and happy cows.  Infamous earthquake and cows are happy getting "foot
massage".  I guess about then a good lightning strike and we could have a
Whopper w/Cheese!

Actually, I'd never heard ULF until this discussion.  I know when I worked
on submarines (worked on, not lived on), they had a VLF antenna.  I believe
the transmitter sites used ungodly amounts of power and I thought their
antennas too were buried.

Information overload and I can no longer feel safe with my dc grounded
antennas ;->

I'm not sure about that that either! When lightning strikes to ground, heavy
currents flow horizontally in all diections (popular heresay has it that
cattle can receive severe shocks from the PD accross their spaced out legs)
these
will induce damaging EMF's in insulated cables - that's how the surge gets
into
your house on public utilities' cables.
