[PCR-1000] Interference from PC running DOS vs running Windows

In the course of trying to reduce resp. get rid of interference from my
desktop PC I found that the interference kicks in only during the last
stages of the Win98 boot process (the screen background and the hourglass
shows already, some icons too but clearly not all drivers are initialized
and not all start up programs loaded). If I boot into DOS instead of Windows
there is as little interference as there is if the PC if off (tested with a
separate Yaesu FRG-8800 receiver and not the PCR-1000). This would seem to
indicate that the interference does perhaps exit through the sound card
circuitry or similar and I am going to test this over the course of the next
few days. Does anyone have the same experience and an explanation / solution
?
