packet can be used for signals wider than supported by normal audio bandwidth 
meaning data rates above 2400 baud

all you need is a regular audio cable and appropriate soundcard decoder (see 
westmountainradio.com sw links) for some

shouldnt need an antenna tuner for receive and if you go with a better HF 
antenna you will likely overload the 1000 and require an outboard preselector 
and attenuation
