Sadly, you are in no position to criticize others for "talking down" to them:

Anyways, I saw your .sig.   This is why I was so surprised you had
to call up Icom _technical support_(!) to have them explain to you
that their R-10 was "too small to contain effective filters".  Did
they also explain that the demands of extended battery life make for
relatively low drive levels in the front end amplifiers and mixers,
which in turn lead to unpleasant IMD effects?  The double-whammy:
wide-open, battery powered, hand-held scanners are notorious intermod
"attractors" -- regardless of the claims of the marketing department
and web-pages.

Surely a man of your wide experience must have been aware of these
issues when you purchased the radios: no calls to "tech support"
would be required to have them explain to you something you've known
for decades...

If you hardly use the thing, then why are you here on a PCR1000 users
list?  If you haven't tried a CW program with it -- by your own admission
you haven't even tried a DSP on it -- then of what value is your opinion?
Of what relevance is the number of IF filters that you have installed?

I regularly use the PCR1000 for various DSP stuff and random digital
modes, and the thing works just fine.  Barring the weak front end
(which I fix with external filters, as I described) and the troubles that
may arise in some situations due to the wide IF bandwidth in "CW mode"
my experience tells me that the only other limitation will be
with the CW program itself.

Think of it this way:  my posting was intended to call you on your FUD.
Yeah, the PCR1000 isn't a Yaesu FT1000.  So what?

You had the chance to send me _your_ rebuttal privately, but
declined.  So if you can rebut in public, then it strikes me that
I have the same privledge.
