[PCR-1000] 900 Mhz Cordless freq??

The real moral of the story is that the government frequently passes laws
that are unenforceable.  These laws make them feel good and let them tell
their constituents that they 'did something for them'.

During the 'analog years' making it 'illegal' to monitor cell phones and
cordless calls was as enforceable as the speed limit.

It was actually the wireless providers that lobbied heavily (read:
contribute heavily to both political parties).  Their fear was that if users
thought the cell phones were not secure, then nobody would use them - just
like the wired cable companies paying developers to install 'no-antenna'
restrictions in the deeds of new houses (the restriction lasts FOREVER!).

However, technology triumphs to provide the privacy the typical cell phone
user believes they have.  Digital, spread spectrum, frequency hopping
devices now provides enough 'privacy' for most personal users without them
really understanding the technology.

The new technology of 12-18" dishes and stealth antennas have helped us do
our thing.  We spent a few years in Arizona and to get around the local
'no-antenna' ordinances, zoning regs, and homeowner association rules, all
my antennas were in the attic, stapled to the roof overhang, or laid flat on
top of the roof.  One of my long wore slopers was actually hidden in the ivy
growing on the dividing our house from the open-space lands.

Although I have never had any restrictions where I live now (farm country),
I just hooked up my 60 foot rain gutter as an end-feed long wire antenna -
works pretty good on 10 to 31 meter bands.  And yes, it is grounded through
some gas-zapper lightening arresters at both ends by the downspouts.
