[PCR-1000] new user

Hi,
I joined the mailing list recentely. I got a brand new pcr-1000 and I =
was wondering if there is something special I must know before getting  =
started with this?  such as eprom backup,=20

Second, does it worth to install the icom software included in the box, =
or should I go with talkpcr2.4 right away?  I hope it works on Win2K
