[PCR-1000] PCR1000 serial cable substitute? Shielding problem?

Hi all,
Just bought a used PCR1000 for cheap ($150) at a hamfest minus the =
original serial cable. I've tried 2 "off the shelf" (Belkin and Radio =
Shack) 9 pin male to female serial cables and either the radio, or the =
cable, is emitting horrible RF interference throughout the SW bands. =
Icom wants $35 for the original cable. Would the original cable solve my =
interference problems? Is the original Icom cable specifically made for =
these units? I'm thinking it might be since I had a new PCR1000 last =
year with the original cable and never had problems. I've also noticed =
that if you touch the PCR1000 and have another portable shortwave radio =
playing nearby, the buzzing gets louder on the other radio. Almost seems =
like some type of grounding or shielding problem.=20
I've ruled out monitor interference, etc. Appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Steve
