[PCR-1000] PCR1000 Windows XP

I have found that TalkPCR has a couple of non-scanning related features
that makes its' small cost to the programmers at least worthy of
mention. First is a nice DSP functionality, and EEPROM backup / compare.
Believe me this is a nice feature.  I have "belched out" 160$USD for
being stupid.  I stand before you in this state.  I also believe that it
is very easy to err in terms of your experience with the obvious.  I
think that QROsoft would be interested in hearing about this issue.  You
know, it's funny.  I have been an "at risk" C++ and Intel x86 assembly
programmer for years.  I am not afraid to say that most of my mistakes
have been at the cost of my pride, of which only fumes arise from the
muck these days.  I have learned to take advantage of the innate and
intimate knowledge, and likewise shortcomings, of what in a world of
flash and hype are the rule as opposed to the exception, the realm of
simplicity, being as, by definition, simple, may arise to the top, as
the "cream" of what may be considered the "crop".  I think, we, as fun
loving, and reasonably technologically knowledgeable persons, need to
talk to the programmers of the ethereal control systems of radios that,
without the PC, are mistakes, in search of being discredited and
abandoned.  Instant Junk.

XP may, or may not be, a wise choice of an operating systems when
considering scientific applications.  Research may be the key to ones
happiness in the realm of an almost theatrical, surreal approach to W.
Gates III et al approach, controlling our ability to control our own
environment.  We can only hope that the individuals responsible for the
stuff we run on our PCs are as keen and astute as our own personal
misgivings.

Somehow, I believe they are.  I strongly suggest that, if you can,
support their efforts.

I downloaded TalkPCR and found it does at least turn on the radio in
Windows XP which is far more than the unsupported Icom software,
however,
this isn't the solve-all that everyone on this list has touted either. I
spent over a hour setting up a scan list and the TalkPCR software
promptly
belched it out and lost it.  I NEVER had this problem with the Icom
software.  In the short time before TalkPCR belched and lost the 58
channel
scan list, I was NOT impressed with it as a scanner.  Further, I was not
nearly as impressed with it as I was the Icom software to just "tune
around" various bands either.  I guess for some folks if Talk PCR fits
the
bill that is fine but it isn't what I am looking for in a control
program
for my PCR1000.

It DOES NOT GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT the Sony though and that is good.
