Scancat does support the DSP more fully than Icom's software itself.  In
order to do noise blanking I believe you have to change a value in the .ini
file in Icom's software.  All of the controls for the DSP in scancat are on
the advanced scanning screen.  There is a button for DSP control, which
controls noise reduction, notch filter and IF spread.  There is also a
button on the right side of the advanced scanning screen that controls noise
blanking.  It's fairly straight forward. I first tune the signal with hte
dial, and then adjust the DSP once I know i have something.  This is the
only logical way to tune, for me that is.

I am using SavePCR, has a much friendlier interface and can be easliy
transferred to diskette and works under windows as well.  I know, I know,
what if you want a DOS program to back up the eprom, that's where the other
program comes in handy, and I use both, just to make sure.

It's a decent program, but there are no fancy things such as SSTV or RTTY
decoding in it.  I use extra decoding programs for morse and SSTV and RTTY
and weather stuff.  They work fairly well with Scancat SE.  As long as you
get the SE version which supports recording of the signal through your sound
card line in, you're all set for the decoders as msot of them use wav files
to decode the info.
