[PCR-1000] How to detect SSTV, FAX, rtty, ax.25 and other "data signals" on the air?

I have an MFJ 1078 data box which decodes such transmissions for display on
a computer monitor or printing to a printer or both.  I mainly use it with
my HF Yaesu Frog, but I am tempted to try it with my 1000.  Have never done
this before.  If you look around on ebay, you might find one.  The only
drawback, is that it won't work with the 1000 now that I think about it.  It
needs a dedicated CAT port on the radio, which the 1000 doesn't have.  It
does take the guesswork out of what type of signals you're using.  There are
software answers that allow you to decode and print SSTV and FAX and WEATHER
satellite pictures.  I haven't had any luck with any of these on the 1000.
I prefer the hardware method.  Much mroe accurate and easier.  If you ever
get a HF reciever I would recommend the MFJ.  You can find these on Ebay
quite cheaply.  The only thing they usually need is an eeprom upgrade and a
specific cat cable for your radio.
