[PCR-1000] Considering PCR-1000

Okay, I travel alot and usually take along with my laptop, an R3 and 
MVT9000 (w/ descriminator mod)  I like monitoring MDTs, ACARS,  SSTV,  and 
others of questionable legality.  Obtaining a PCR100 would lighten my 
carrry-on, but is it capable of fulfilling my scanning needs?  Also, are 
there any mods for US version, or do I give my greenbacks to the canucks?  TIA
