Hi Mark
Mine did the same thing. It was very subtle but I slowly got the feeling
it was not hearing as well as it should. Sensitivity on local repeaters
like you mentioned. I looked around in it for a bit and then sent it to
Icom service. They fixed it quickly and now it works like a champ.
Icom said I had 3 bad diodes, 2 shorted caps, 1 open resistor and a blown
first mixer IC. Suggested to them overvoltage or lightning damage.
I run this at the house on a discone, which is of course has an open DC
path on the center feed so I could have had some static buildup or
something that got it one day. The only other factor I think about is
their overvoltage statement. I ran this in my car a few times to DF
some interference and perhaps the car battery voltage got to high.
Dosen't seem as likely as the static buildup but just another clue.
Tare was $92.10 including tax, title, license etc. Your mileage may
vary.
