[PCR-1000] pathetic PCR1000 servicing from Icom

Strange. All of the software...icom, talk pcr, pcrscope, radio manager
seem to work fine under my installation of windows XP.
I love my PCR-1000. I also have an Icom r-75 and an r2 all work
perfectly. Touch wood I have never had to deal with Icom repair with any
of these radios. I did have an R-10 repaired for what seemed like a fair
sum of money in a reasonable amount of time.

I have also had bad luck with I-com being helpful in trying to get the
PCR-1000 work with windows XP.  I have talked with a number of people
who have had success in doing a clean boot, i.e. reformatting the hard
drive and then it will run on I-coms software.  I have also tried other
theirs party software, i.e. Scancat Gold, And TalkPCR also on XP and
cannot get them to run also.  While I have a big loyal fan of I.com
equipment, their seeming unable to provide software support for the
latest operating systems.  I agree that all of us should put pressure on
them to at lease release their coding so someone else could write a
program that will work on XP.
