There are plenty of coax relays available if you look at the
satellite receiver business. They need relays to switch between
LNB's, so you have good relays designed to work with GHz signals
and that are very inexpensive to buy. You have several options,
controlled by applying 18v to the coax line, insert a 22KHz tone
or tone pulse coded DiseqC signalling. If you get the 18v DC relay
type and mount that at the mast foot, you can switch to the discone
when 18v are applied and use the longwire when there's no voltage
in the coax. Normally scanner antennas and longwires aren't DC
grounded so there shouldn't be any problems. But you can easily
modify the relay by opening it up and remove a bypass choke.
Then there will be no voltage going out to the antennas.
Inserting the voltage into the coax line can be done by using
readybuilt boxes, that only consist of a choke and a capacitor,
or you could open up that relay switch and remove the wires
going to the relay coil and solder your own wires there and
feed the relay seperatly with a 12v source. The 2GHz relay
switch normally costs around $10.00
