Subject: Severe Weather Outlook

Friday, September 7, 2007, 8:15 AM

Active weather is expected in Arkansas from today through the weekend.
There will be a threat of flash flooding, as well as some severe
weather. I do expect that we will see some Flash Flood Warnings become
necessary.

A slow-moving cold front will be making its way into Arkansas, and the
front will meet up with some moisture left behind by former Pacific
Hurricane Henriette.

From this afternoon through mid evening, we could see a few severe
thunderstorms, primarily north of a line from Fort Smith to Pocahontas.
Damaging winds will be the main severe weather threat, although an
isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. There could be some general rains
in excess of an inch north of the aforementioned line. After the threat
of severe weather diminishes during the evening, some thunderstorms with
locally heavy rain will continue on through the late night hours.
Elsewhere in the state, only isolated severe storms will be possible.

Saturday and Saturday night, the main focus for the heaviest rains will
be the northern third of the state, with some rainfall totals of 1 to 3
inches expected.

Sunday and Sunday night, the axis of heaviest rains should shift a
little farther to the southeast, probably along a line from Ashdown to
Hot Springs to Pocahontas. Again, there should be some 1 to 3 inch
rainfall amounts.

The rainfall totals mentioned above are what is expected over fairly
large areas. Otherwise, due to the high moisture content of the
atmosphere, strong thunderstorms anywhere in the state will be capable
of dumping 2 or
3 inches of rain in just an hour or two, resulting in localized flooding.

I will be out of the office for much of the day. However, I will issue
another message when I return, though this may not be until after 4 PM.
