Severe weather will develop to the north of Arkansas today and move
toward the south after that. Some of the storms left over from this
activity may enter northern Arkansas after midnight, but the storms are
not expected to be severe by the time they reach the state.
On Friday, a cold front will be moving into Arkansas. During the
afternoon and early evening, this front should meet up with enough heat
and humidity to bring a risk of a few severe thunderstorms to most parts
of Arkansas. The only exception may be parts of northern Arkansas,
where the front will move through during the morning hours. Damaging
winds are likely to be a greater threat than large hail.
I think the strongest storms will produce some 2 to 3 inch rainfall
amounts, so this may be enough to cause some local flooding problems in
a few areas.
I will issue the next message around 9:30 AM Friday.
