Here's Ron's description of what he wants to do.

I have my opinion and I'll wait to share it when the votes are tallied.

Glen:

probably the best way to see who we are is to look at our website.

We are an independent group of people who enjoy UHF. The reason we would
like to set up a link with at least part of your system, is to have a
connection in case of an emergency of course, but to allow your members a
connection to home when they are mobile in Little Rock and of course we
would have reciprocity for our group while they are in Pine Bluff.

We are not affiliated with the weathernet and we wouldn't want to get in the
way of your weathernet or any other thing you have going on there in
Jefferson and surrounding counties. We just thought this might be something
your members would be interested in.

We currently use the 443.200 machine as a hub. The N5ZA system in
Searcy/Gravel Ridge, and the N5YU system have the capability of linking to
our system. We have a net every Tuesday evening at 21:00 and you and
any/all of your members are welcome to check in to the net.

We are not a club! We are just a group of people who would like to set up a
network that could possibly linked together to cover most of the state.
This WOULD! NOT! be a full time link and we would like it to be accessible
from either end.

We are working on getting the 442.225 machine up at Malvern and when we get
it up and running, the guys down in southwest Arkansas are planning to set
up a link to our system.

We are also talking to the people over around Ft Smith.

If you want to know who is financing this project, it would be mostly myself
and Charlie Roberts KD5OCQ. Most of the money for the system has come out
of MY! POCKET! The CAREN or ARES clubs do not have anything to do with any
of this.

We may have people in our group who belong to one or both of those groups,
but this is not representative of the group.

If you knew me, you would know that there is no hidden agenda. I am the
kind of guy with whom you might not agree, but I promise, you will know
where I stand.

I just wanted to link to your net on Tuesday evening one time to demonstrate
the link and let some of our group check into the net. Our system will not
ID on your repeater and really you would probably never know that it is
another repeater if some one didn't let you know. It would sound just like
another station trying to check in.

Thanks for your time and consideration

Ron -

I'm getting questions like - Who are they? And why do they want to link to
us?

Can you provide some answers that I can share?

"Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we
didn't."

"Be honorable yourself if you wish to associate with honorable people."

Thanks,

Glenn

Glen:

I would like to get permission to link the 443.200 system to your net on
this coming Tuesday evening and just allow some of our people to check in on

your net.

I also would like to talk to you by telephone, AT! YOUR! CONVENIENCE!, about

the types of equipment you are using down there and what we can do about a
link that would work from either end. I definitely want one that would work

from either direction. I just need to know what type of equipment you guys
have so we can determine the easiest way of making the connection.
