The flag was also lowered for 30 days for Judge Rehnquist.  

I really suspected that was the reason although I did hear the announcement that the flag was to be lowered for 30 days.  I suspected that it would be for 10 days or so.   The typical Joe on the street knows about the hurricane and a much smaller group knew about Judge Rehnquist's passing.
