"Is this legal, since hams are not supposed to accept compensation?"

I checked with the ARRL this morning, and I got to talk to Mary K1MMH. She says that compensation and reimbursement are two different critters as far as the IRS and the FCC are concerned. So no harm, no foul. 

I figure that the ARRL would not put any ham in a position to be harmed by the FCC or the IRS. Remember, we all pay dues just so the ARRL will watch out for us! I trust the ARRL, and I hope each of you will too.
