Everyone -

A stop by the 146.700 repeater site today yielded the following

Pf = 20 Watts
Pr =  5 Watts

SWR: 3:1

Pout of radio = 38 Watts (into dummy).

This suggests a problem with the hardline and/or the antenna (those I've
spoken with believe it is the antenna). The problem we are seeing is
symptomatic of a fiberglass antenna that has either been hit by lightening
or been subjected to a close strike(s).

Our plans:

1) retrieve the DB225 from N5SSE and plan to put it in service (this is the
one that was in use at Noble Lake)
2) Secure a tower climber and get the appropriate permissions to allow him
to climb the tower
3) arrange a date for the climb

All nets scheduled for the 146.700 machine will be simplex nets until we get
the antenna situation fixed. That is, the SEAR Radio Emergency net and the
PBARC net will be on 146.700 simplex. By the way, there is no PBARC net as
tomorrow is club meeting night. The main reason is that unless you are
close to the repeater site, you aren't able to get in to the repeater.

Thanks,

Glenn
