[PaQSO] Mobile setups

I’ve got my antenna installed this afternoon, and took it out for a shakedown to make certain it was solidly mounted, and it passed with flying colors.
Anyhow, it’s a bugcatcher, homebrew except for the loading coil, mounted on a hot rolled steel strap attached to the frame of my Jeep Patriot, and a shockmount stabilizer attached to the roof. For traveling in the PAQSO and the back roads I take, the whip portion has a nylon string attached to the top to pull down for travel.
It is a monster, as anyone familiar with bugcatchers will know. The price of tweaking that last little bit of performance out of a HF mobile antenna.
note: the antenna isn’t big enough until the XYL is embarrassed to be seen in the vehicle.
It’s previous incarnation worked very well indeed, so I’m expecting the same this year.
Now to install my TS-480 in the Jeep.
But If anyone has some photos of their mobile setup they would like to share, I might just be able to post them on the website. I’ll be posting mine at some point here.
