HI Herb,
My low band focus is 40m stateside typically for qso parties/contests, like
the PAQP. I use a 40m dipole at 9 feet with an old IC-730 at 82.5 watts. It
works amazingly well. I was on 40m all day on Saturday during the PAQP and
worked 110 PA stations (including 5 mobile/rover contacts) with solid
reports.
I also ran K2L in 13 colonies along with W1AW/4 for several thousand Qs.
I've won plaques in 5 QPs along with numerous top five finishes including
WPX. Top station in South Carolina for the ARRL Centennial. These and more
with an antenna at 10 feet has been simply AMAZING! I am a believer in
NVIS!
