There is always someone who will find fault with a contest, be it an international, national, regional, or local one. There's always something that can be "done better", at least in the eyes of (if not for the benefit of) the person kvetching.

Constructive comments are one thing. Kvetching and destructive comments are something else.

I still recall what I got, publicly and privately, in my inbox back when I was in charge of the N3SH bonus station op, a few years back. I STILL get complaints from some people about it, especially those who don't like the idea of a multi-county bonus station. So I can just imagine what N3LI is seeing in his inbox.

There is nothing major wrong with Pa QSO. No, it's not perfect... what is? Conditions were not ideal, gas prices are still too high for some of the mobile ops to do all the travelling they (and we) would like, and Little Miss Field Day's college scheduled their annual Family Weekend for the same weekend, which knocked me out of the club's Fayette County op. So it goes. These things happen.

None of these, or other similar annoying but minor issues, justify major changes to the contest.

It's not broke. It doesn't need fixing.

I’m also baffled.

If I might note, it gets a little discouraging to come home, and most of what I hear is all the things I’m doing wrong. Both via the list and privately.

I always suggest that people who love contesting should try administering one. This is my tenth administration of the QSO Party. I am amazed.

As you note - the party is not broken. It does not need fixed. The original complaint that started this was an out of state Op who didn’t hear many mobiles. As noted, propagation was not terribly good. We have mobiles, we have activity.

I am going to take a few days off from the list now, to quiet my ragged nerves. Carry on.
