GE, PAQSO'ers!
Here's a preliminary snapshot of the 2014 operations planned by the
Allentown - Bethlehem Chapter 17 of the Quarter Century Wireless
Association, (QCWA) this year's Official Designated SES Bonus Station, in
steep conjunction with our newly formed outgrowth sister Chapter 224 of
Wyoming Valley, PA.
Liberal details will follow as we move forward, and a firm schedule with
concrete capabilities will be published here in plenty of time for the
festivities. Please reasonably withhold questions not yet addressed. These
should be satisfied well in advance of the launch date, but be assured you
may count on a comprehensive effort that satisfies nearly everyone.
Until then, all men may ye now know:
• Very enthusiastic Designated Volunteer Operators in MULTIPLE Co's will
offer wide opportunities to collect Bonus Points and multipliers on many
band/mode combinations.
• The Official designated Callsigns will be "W3TDF/<Cty>" in order to honor
"The Grump" who turns 90 this June 19. Ray is Immediate Past President of
Chapter 17, which just recognized its own 50th Charter anniversary, as
Chapter 224 celebrates its very 1st year of organization.
• While W3TDF is the Honorary Chairman, all questions should be strictly
directed to "Operation Co-chairs," Mark / NK8Q & Pete / NL7XM.
• The Grump himself will be at the key or mic in the flesh from one of the
simultaneous signals originating only from the "W3TDF/BUX" flagship site.
• The delivery of Birthday cake, cards, flowers, cake, Radiograms,
greetings, and cake to the address of record for W3TDF is welcome and
encouraged during the Contest weekend. Cake is good, too.
• An effort to provide multipliers for 6m and HF Digital aficionados is
being vigorously explored, as well as V/UHF limited operations on a strict,
but widely published, windowed schedule. Mobile and Rover operations are
NOT likely at this precise juncture, but 160m will POSITIVELY be employed.
• A commemorative QSL card is being considered for those who Q "The Grump"
himself during the contest.
As explained at the top, this is a preliminary peek and not a comprehensive
outline of planned operations. Delegates with station flexibility, skills,
and contest experience were carefully chosen to maximize your success.
We are confident you will enjoy another great contest this October, and
again wish to express our collective thanks to Chairman Mike Coslo of
Nittany ARC for selecting our local EPA Chapters of the QCWA as the 2014
PAQSO Bonus Station.
47,
Mark / NK8Q
Pete / NL7XM
