If it weren't for the portables, rovers , mobiles and county line stations....often you would not even get close to working a county sweep. County Line Stations are a challenge but greatly help your chances of better score. For non-cw stations the WB3W program has the best county line entry method. I will be using it running digital next year. A control key and add your counties...simple. Logging numbers are not confusing and the contest moves along smoothly. The large lettering is a plus for us retired folk. I would love to run N1MM but changing contest programs right before a contest is a big mistake. I lost too much time in testing the program just doing simple changes that I chose not to use it although once I am totally familiar with it .....this will be the program to use...
Do not try a new program right before the contest. I made a switch to N3FJP because of almost losing the log last year albeit maybe operator error. The N3FJP program runs perfectly ...although different...and logs the county line stations correctly. The ENTRY NUMBERS are higher than the LOG NUMBER but the correct log number given out is in large numbers at the bottom of the page. If you read that number you will never give out a bad number. Just forget the entry number sequence.....takes practice not trying to follow entry number versus logging numbers. A couple columns to the right also shows the proper log number but you always give out THE BOTTOM LINE !!! Works for me. Decent CW sending, easy interfacing and easy post contest. Can't ask for much more. No need for an outboard memory keyer or use rig keyer.
I stirred the pot well on this one but this is the way it is. Keep things tidy and simple. I wll be working all digital in 2013 with KA3AFY regardles how few Qsos I make. What a challenge!!! Perhaps AA3K Mark was too much of a challenge for me this year!!!! NOT. Being at the peak of the solar cycle is a consideration but I have been in this contest too many years. Another sweep would be great but all the contacts with these stations year after year has been just so much fun. Setting a digital record would surely raise the bar a notch. Running multi-one from another county would also be great and a possibility. It is that great of a contest with the best people in it......And the Qsl's from it aren't bad either!!! Thanks for a great contest. I vote FOR COUNTY LINE. Learn your program......73s de larry n3cr Carbon County
