Mike,
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I've been busy all weekend with the club
hamfest.
I believe that the four new sections will be ON Ontario North, OE Ontario
East, OS Ontario South, and as a complete surprise and change from the
pattern, OW for Ontario West.
And for what it's worth... if the Canadian mults will be the RAC sections,
then I'm in favor of the change.
However, I agree that there are some practical and logistical concerns.
Considering that the change occurs roughly 6 weeks before this year's
contest, I would not object if the change was held off until the 2013
contest to give software writers a chance to catch up, and for the Cabrillo
3 standard to be fully implemented in the contest. With that in mind, if
software will be ready and available with plenty of lead time to be
distributed, then this isn't a problem.
I'm simply asking about this now, roughly 6 months ahead of time, so that
there's plenty of time to notify people. Of course, we'll still have
surprises on the air, either way, but that can't be helped...
And I guess I'm never going to be able to go back to the KA3JWE package.
Much as I enjoyed using the WB3W app these last couple of years, I hate to
abandon good software. But the app is obsolete, no reasonable chance of it
being updated on the horizon, and that's that.

I'm waiting to see what the section abbreviations are.
I'm inclined to go to the new sections, but there are some considerations.
Some of our folks use some pretty august software that is no longer
maintained by the writers. Perhaps it's time to upgrade.
We're going to Cabrillo 3 for the logs soon, I'd love to get all changes at
once if possible.
