On this subject, every contest all operators should strive to copy all calls correctly! The software is only as good as the data that is put into it! therefore if you strive to copy correctly and your data is good then you have a good log, it will prevent the log of dupes in your log!

As a operator in a contest you, the submitting call sign is responsible for the data in that log. Dupe's in logs count against you when submitted officially, may be not in PQP but bigger contests they do.

I get told i am a dupe a lot when n3xl in MDC gets on the air during a contest, i will work some one and they log n3xls or when i call them they hit n3xn tl, its very frustrating. in the end, if their log is wrong and they logged the wrong call sign when i submit my log and they submit theirs it counts against them since they copied the wrong call! For most ARRL contests you can see this occurrence by logging into the contesting website and checking your Log Checking Reports (LCR).

Therefore, if you log a dupe be advise it might count against you, if you log the wrong call it counts against you, if you copy the call right and all the data is right then everyone is happy and gets more points and is less frustrated!
