[PaQSO] question on doing PAQSO Party from out of state

Hello, all, and thanks so much for adding me to the list.

To give a very brief bit of background, my name is Tom Behler: and my
current amateur call is KB8TYJ. I now live in Michigan, and have an Extra
class license.

I must tell you that the PAQSO Party is clearly one of my favorite contests
of the entire contest year. To show you how much I like this contest, I'm a
college professor, and I schedule student papers and assignments around the
contest week-end, so that I won't have any grading to do then. We have to
get our priorities in order, you know! HI! HI!

Anyway, you may wonder why I'm so interested in this contest:

Well, I grew up in Pennsylvania, and got my first amateur license back in
1969. It was one of those old 2-year novice licenses (CW only), and my call
was WN3MQR. For a while, I was a member of the Harrisburg Area Amateur
Radio Club, whose call was, and I think still is, W3UU. In fact, I
occasionally correspond with Glenn (K3SWZ) from that club on various
matters.

I also have continued to be close friends with Tom Walker (Wa3MBF), who
relocated to Maryland several years ago.

I moved away to Michigan after a number of other short moves, and have been
living here since 1985.

I can't tell you how much pleasure it brings me to be able to talk to folks
from "my old neck of the woods".

One other thing I'll say here, before I get to my question is that I'm a
blind ham, and am quite excited about the new award you folks have created
for blind ops. The competition is going to be pretty stiff, and I have some
antenna issues I'm dealing with here that may compromise my ability to get
out on all usable bands from Michigan, but it sure will be fun competing.

Ok, I'll stop my rambling now, and get to my question:

Can I operate the contest from out of State by calling CQ, and just say I'm
from Michigan looking for PA contacts? Is there a specific CQ strategy
you'd recommend?

Thanks again for allowing me onto the list, and I'll see everyone in the
contest next week-end!

73 from Tom Behler: KB8TYJ, Big Rapids, MI
