Al, I use an inverted L on 160M and it works great. One section runs from
the ground to the 54 foot top of the tower and the base of the L runs out
to some woods in the back. I have all of two quarter wave radials
buried. All using 10 gauge wire.
My only issue is that I don't have an amp so do everything barefoot. 50+
countries to date. No, I won't rule the band, but if I ran some power
during DX contests I'd be pretty competitive.
