Hi all;
Well I had a nice time during this years event as
always.
This years theme for me was running rigs that were
over 50 years old like the 1st qso party.
The station was a DX-60B with HG-10B vfo and D-104
mic; about 50w to a longwire. Rcvr was the hammarlund
hq-180.
I started out using AM on 75m and managed 6 qso's.
that was a ball. took one fellow many tries to figure
out how to go from lsb to am, but he did it. another
fellow(I don't have his call handy) had just passed
his general in MD 2 hours previous and knew his way
around the radio - great.
the rest was all cw on 80 and 40 for a grand total
of ninety something qso's, of sporatic operations due
to chores. In all a great workout as switching from
xmit to rcv involved vfo zeroing, manual t/r switch,
rf gain control up/down on rcvr, pencil/pen logging ,
all in the proper sequence(opps), each contact a
valued
qso.
The key used was the venerable Navy flameproof
mounted on a heavy lead base, my personal favorite.
My equipment and the fine qso party members all
performed admirably. Many tnx to the contest
committee guys for all the work involved with the
best qso party.
