We have it at our mountaintop station.

I'm not exactly sure why the trophy was retired.
A traveling trophy - ala the Stanley cup has some nice elements, and
a couple real drawbacks. There is a wonderful historic aspect to it,
and the one year ownership is great.
The downsides are that like the Stanley cup, any traveling trophy
with yearly inscription has to eventually be retired, and a new one
takes it place. The Stanley has been reworked several times, and the
NARC club trophy is in that stage now.
And we have to deal with getting it to and from the winning clubs.
Another little psychological problem is that perhaps some interest
was lost in the club competition trophy by the great success among a
few clubs. To me the main idea of competition would be to try to
unseat the previous winners - but maybe a lot of people just gave up.
I think that maybe the high club average trophy, another retired one
- was an attempt to get the competitive juices going among the rest
of the folks. This is not to disparage the clubs that continually
put in the good effort and win - it is more a "Let's go do it!" for
the rest of us.
Some people with a longer historical perspective might have greater
insight in this matter.
But whatever - I think having a club trophy is a good idea.

Yoiks! Let's not go there!

At this point, I'm just about certain that it will be reinstated.
There will be some details that need to be worked out. What follows
is >>>>unofficial <<<<< so far, but I'm looking at:
A new club trophy that will go to the winning club, and stay with the
winning club.
Certificates for the operators
Second through ? place will receive certificates - a club
certificate, and one for each of the operators.
I will post the winners on the website. I believe I can dig the data
up, but may need some help from youze guys to fill in from the past.
Again, this is unofficial, and not been decided on yet.
