	Excellent advice! I have done both:

1.  starting a contest with  software I've never used before, and  
graduated to

2. trying to "break" the software weeks or months beforehand.


Way number 2 is an *awful* lot better. Many if not most softwares  
have at least a workaround for any cackamamie scoring scheme we can  
dream up. 8^)
