[PaQSO] N3SH 2006 Bonus Station Update 08/06...

I would like ask the
"Software Developers"
to stick their heads UP and tell us what they support or if they do not
support everything this contest offers? This list does not prohibit
related advertising does it? It is a little hard to find these programs
on the web so let them announce here if they have full support!
I know several SAY they support PAQSO but which ones really do properly
support Rovers, Mobiles, County lines and W3UU or N3SH Bonus stations,
etc.... I have tried a couple that say they support PAQSO but do not
support county lines as an example (Without paper on the side). Does
WB3W support all this stuff? Who else?
I personally have used Donster's KA3JWE PAQSO party for Windows program
and like everything about it except that it does not network. (Would be
nice to be able to see what counties we need without doing a merge on
another computer during the contest.
Thanks!
Tim

Sheesh
Next time you can bit my head off and get it over with, I was just
siding with the fact that this issue with multiple stations is being
blown out of proportions. To me what is wrong with a legal pad and
pencil if your logging program of choice has issues. Sounds like you
guys are really planning a great event and should make for an
interesting contest.

You have got to be kidding.
Why are we trying to build a mountain out of a mole hill?
If your software can support, out of the box, dealing with the bonus
station
in multiple counties (as has been done before!), great.
If it can't do it directly, then treat N3SH for logging purposes as a
Rover.
If it can't support a Rover, that is, a fixed station that moves (but
unlike
a mobile can't run while mobile), well, then maybe you should be
taking
another look at your software, since the Rover category has been in
this
contest for quite some time.
As far as creating an Excel file... you already know where the fixed
stations are, and the mobile's route could change on a moment's
notice. To
say nothing of the fact that not everyone uses Excel! If you really
feel
the need to create one, go ahead, but frankly I have enough to do
right now.
But I just don't get it. It's not like this hasn't been done before!
What's all the fuss about?
Remember this, too: One of the requirements from NARC in selecting
the
Bonus Station is that the club selected is asked to maximize the
amount of
time the station or stations are QRV so as to give everyone plenty of
chances to work it -- this stemming from a year when the Bonus Station
wasn't as active as was hoped. With multiple locations activating
multiple
counties, we're going to be accomplishing this.
Sheesh.

I'm not sure how all logging programs work however i would be very
supprised if this is the case that once work N3SH QTH#1 when i go to
log N3SH QTH#2 the software is going to tell me its a dupe and not
allow me to hit enter and log it. In other words the software just
tells the user "hey idiot you already worked this guy!" the only
thing that will need to be done in this case is the user will need to
make a mental note or go back to the penscil and paper method and
just write on the top N3SH bouns station 20 meters Worked QTH#1 QTH#2
QTH#3 and so on. Since this might be the case with some logging
programs maybe N3SH can come out with an excel file that is a check
list of there operations this way we can check off who was worked and
were. thats just my thoughts.

Well, I'm not familiar with NA; the last time I inquired about using
it in
the contest, I nearly had a bill for a copy shoved down my throat & I
got
told off by the amateur doing the shoving!
I do know that some software programs have (or had) difficulties with
mobiles and rovers operating in different counties.
As far as N3SH goes... so? Is there a problem here I'm not aware of?

And so can N3SH work N3SH?
I thought (though am not sure) W3UU had different bands at different
places, plus W3UU/M.
With NA there is no need to log "/R". Just select "QTH MUST MATCH
FOR
DUPE".

Yes.
Remember, W3UU did the same thing a few years back.
So with exception of N3SH Mobile, all N3SH QSO's should be logged as
N3SH /
Rover to keep the software straight.
Of course, keep in mind that at any one time, some N3SH stations will
be CW,
some SSB, and one or two RTTY and PSK-31.
Hey, it could be worse... some of our members currently live out of
state.
We could have had N3SH/R Ohio, N3SH/R Nebraska, N3SH/R NNY, even
N3SH /
maritime mobile if KA3UPY/mm ever gets around to upgrading... but we
didn't
want to do that to you guys. This year.

Is this to say that there will be up to six different stations
signing
N3SH on the same band and same mode at the same time?
