Hmmm..I figure I'm down 100K from last year, but it
was still fun!
My call on the CL is that the transmitting station
must make the call, but that the only reason not to be
on the line is safety..the bridge thing, for example.
It is the spirit of the thing, I suppose. I simply
don't gove out CL's...I'll work one, then cross the
line and hand out the other.
I also heard (post contest) that there wasn't supposed
to be 220/440 qsos...I hope that isn't the case, since
that would be shortsited, and limit the tech+ folks to
2 bands. I didn't hear a whole lot up there, but there
WERE people there...heck, almost anyone has a
dual-band rig with 440 in it. Up here in the
northeast, there is more 440 than 2 meters!
Anyway, looks like SO2R/mobile, 200 Q's, all phone, 66
mults, QRP @3 watts max; 9 x K3YTL, 9 counties
activated, for about 32,000 points roughly...
Operating time: noon-nine Saturday; Sunday I went to
leave at about 7:45 and had a grinding noise come out
from under the car...seems that I trashed a CV joint
(and the attached half-shaft)after driving through
deep water on Saturday night. Unfortunately, the parts
store didn't open until 10, but I had a good
breakfast, then swapped out the shaft, joint, and
front brakes by noon...showered, and went back out
from a bit after 1 till the end...went back to two of
the toughies (SUL and SUS)and made a bunch of folks
happy...
Even with the weirdness, this weekend was the closest
I've had to normal since my harmonic was born back in
January!
364 days to go...
