[PaQSO] CL Rules?

Over the years, it's been generally accepted that the county line ops are
expected to make every effort to ensure that the station is on the line as
can best be reasonably ensured. The aforementioned problem with misplaced
or otherwise inaccurate county line markers in some locations is one of the
reasons for this. And many of us rely on roadmaps to show where the lines
are, and sometimes they're not printed as accurate as they should be.
Or to put it another way, if you're not sure, make sure that you've got at
least one antenna crossing the line.
And if memory serves, the one exception is for situations where the actual
county line or multi-county point is in an unsafe location... like the
middle of a highway, or a river, or part way down a steep hill. In these
cases, if the station is located as close to the line/point as is reasonably
possible -- and safe -- it's good enough. I think this is primarily for the
benefit of mobiles/rovers who can't always physically reach the location(s)
in question. But again, whenever possible, if an antenna stretches across
the line... you get my drift.
Overall, I think my favorite CL op was one done many, many moons ago by
then-KC3CL (now K3SK/4). As I recall (some of you fellow OT's out there
correct me if I'm wrong) he found a campground who's parking lot straddled a
CL, managed to park his camper ON the line, and was (or so he claimed)
moving from one side of the camper to the other in order to work you from
both counties... always looking for a loophole, he shoulda been a lawyer...

did you know... that the K3HKK NARC VHF site is on the Centre Co side of the
ridge. Step on the other side of the access road/trail, and you'r in HUN!
