[PaQSO] AN ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE

I have had no doubt that this "Semi-Public Forum" (Reflector), with the
passing of time,  would become "Personal", and it has become PERSONAL, ONLY,
by one MIS-COMMUNICATION ! (A Mis-Understanding.) I refer to: "Gene,  You
have the name wrong.  It's not Al Queda, it's Al Zelna.  I'm not sure who's
this other person you mentioned."

Please afford me the courtesy of one more ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE.( On a
Personal level, because a Personal Mis-Communication should be rectified
with a Personal COMMUNICATION.)  i.e. "Did I mis-state my thought, or, was
my statement MIS-UNDERSTOOD" ?  Let's analyze it:

Definition: "To Communicate" is to Transfer a THOUGHT from one Intelligent
Life-form, to another Intelligent Life-form. and, I won't ELABORATE (at his
time) on the MANY MODES (Methods) of doing so !

 The Original Statement(VERBATIM) came from Mike Coslo: "I went through old
posts from the reflector, and I see that the issue keeps coming up !"
Definition of "issue": The question of including RTTY/Digital modes into the
PaQSO Party was suggested, REPEATEDLY (by a calculated MINORITY), and it was
REJECTED REPEATEDLY (by a calculated MAJORITY) !
My response(VERBATIM) to Mike Coslo's statement: "We have that same problem
(coming up) with Al Qaeda !"
Definition:(Here-in LIES the Mis-Communication.) "Al Qaeda" (NOT Al Zelna)
is a World-Wide Terrorist Organization !  The World-Wide Ambition of Al
Qaeda is to "KILL ALL INFIDELS" !
Definition: "Infidels" are "ALL NON-BELIEVERS" in the Muslim Faith.! (If you
don't believe as I DO, I'll kill you.)
We also have Amateur Radio Ops. who, by exercising their right to choose
that which they enjoy , are categorized (by some) as "NON-BELIEVERS" !  If
one chooses to operate CW, SSB, RTTY, AMTOR, PSK-31, etc., etc. - - - are
they also TO BE KILLED (NOT LITERALLY) with RHETORIC, because THEY don't
believe in (choose) YOUR CHOSEN MODE of operating ?
i.e. "In order for me to present MY CHOSEN mode of operating, in a more
acceptible manner, I must DENIGRATE the chosen operating mode of others" !
Has anyone else "received this message" ?

Al Qaeda has recently "Come Up" in New York City, Wash. D.C., the
Farm-Fields of Pa. (Near Somerset, Pa.), in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, The
Philippine Islands, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, etc., etc., - -World Wide !
(I include this Geography Lesson because Amateur Radio is one, of many,
means of World-Wide Communications.)  At all locations where "Al Qaeda" has
"come-up" (and will come-up) there has been (and will be) DEATH &
DESTRUCTION, en masse ! In short, Al Qaeda could be classified as
"Trouble-Makers", similar to "Liars", "Cheats", "Deceivers", and "Thieves" !
The commonality among all these groups is the "Promotion of Their Personal
Agenda", while CORRUPTING the Agenda of others !

That Mis-Communication, hopefully having been SETTLED - - let's proceed to
more "mundane" matters !

Fast-Forward to PaQSO Party Reflector, February, 2005, and we find the SAME
question has "come-up", with the suggestion (or A DISGUISED DEMAND) for the
inclusion of RTTY/Digital Modes (Al Qaeda) into the PaQSO Party.

Let us attempt to UN-MASK the "True Reasoning" behind a "request" for
inclusion of RTTY/Digital Modes into PaQP.( I do this at the risk of
displaying my own Prejudice, however, I ask you to HEAR ME OUT.)  CW has
been acknowledged, and recognized (World-Wide) as the "Slowest"(most
time-consuming) yet, most reliable mode, within which, to operate. (To some,
it is also the MOST, PERSONNALLY REWARDING.)  It has been "alleged", here on
the Reflector, that CW Operators have an "Un-fair Advantage" (in acquiring
points) due to the granting of 2 points per contact on 160 & 80 meters, and
1.5 points per contacts on all other bands, while the SSB operators are
granted ONLY 1 point for their contacts, on any band. Considering the "Time
Restraints" of the PaQP (48 hours), the PaQP could be classified as a "Race
against Time",  (EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE THE WINNER) and, I submit that
placing a "Stock Volkswagen" (CW) into competition with a "Stock
Lambhorgini" (SSB & Digital Modes) in any "race" is inherantly UN-FAIR,
unless the "Volkswagen" is granted some "incentive to compete" ! Question:
Did not the Founding Fathers (or Mothers) of the PaQP take this matter into
consideration when they established the "Scoring Formula", and found it to
be INHERANTLY FAIR ?

Ah Ha ! Perhaps, now we have discovered that the "Lambhorgini Drivers" wish
to continue driving their "Lambhorgini", and yet, they LUST for the
"Economic Savings & Reduced Initial Cost of the Volkswagen" ! There should
be no difficulty in deciphering this analogy, but if there is, please allow
me to define it as:  "I don't want to WASTE MY LIFE in the process of
learning CW, and the development of that "Art Form & Talent", however, I DO
WANT the POINTS-ADVANTAGE that is granted to THOSE WHO HAVE DONE SO !"  Does
anyone else wish to discuss "Fairness" ?

I use a computer as an "Extension of My Talents", but, I haven't found one
that will give me a HUG, or, call me "Friend" !

PaQP has been identified as a "Party", where each participant should "Have
Fun" (enjoyment) !  There are many definitions of "Party", i.e. "Political
Party", etc, but, I have found "Very Little Fun" when Political Parties get
together ! i.e. "MY WAY IS RIGHT, WHILE YOUR WAY IS WRONG" ! (Yes, it sounds
like the Relector - - Huh ?)  However, a Birthday Party for my 8 yr. old
Grand Daughter is more to my liking ! (Friends among Friends)  But, I find
it extremely objectionable, when one of the invited "guests" asks: "Why
didn't you invite Howard Stern to ENTERTAIN THE CHILDREN" ?

I hope that my "Tirade" will be taken in Proper Context, and perhaps, it
will initiate a "search of conscience" ! Personally, I wish ONLY for a
Definitive Set of Rules (Non-Argumentative) for any activity, in which, I
choose to engage, and RIGID ENFORCEMENT of those rules is A MUST, equally &
fairly, for the benefit of ALL PARTICIPANTS !

In my opinion, RTTY/Digital & CW signals are similar to Oil & Water !  They
can be EMULSIFIED (mixed), but, for either to perform any "useful function"
they must remain separate,  - - "Oil" for lubrication, 'Water" for drinking,
and, EMULSIFICATION serves only to CONTAMINATE BOTH, and render them USELESS
!

Allocations of "Operating Frequencies" for each mode is A JOKE, without
levity !  Even though thousands of man-hours are expended in formulating "A
WAR Plan", the "Book" is thrown-away when the FIRST SHOT IS FIRED (or the
first Mic Key is punched) !   7.0 Mhz. thru 7.15Mhz. CW/Digital, and,
7.15Mhz. thru 7.3Mhz. for phone is "The Band Plan", however, everything
in-between those two sets of parameters is "Gentlemen's Agreement" !  What
do we do since the "Definition of Gentleman" has been LOST IN TRANSLATION ?
By any "Stretch of the Imagination", any person who would key-up a 1.5 Kw
signal, on top of a QRP signal, - - IS NOT A GENTLEMAN - - - - but, "I just
needed ONE MORE POINT so that I COULD BE THE WINNER" ! (Can you visualize
two Gangs of Fleas, arguing the owenership of the Dog, upon which, they all
live ?)

Oooops ! One more little p.s. When operating CW with a 250Hz. filter, and
you are still hearing 3 "slightly off freq.signals", how many of you have
also heard: "QRL IMI" ?  Hi Hi (For the non-CW ops. - - "Is the Frequency in
Use"?)
