Greetings again!
Doug's point of view is a good one. Having two modes; 'voice' and 'cw' is
fine, and I don't think many would have a problem with including all of the
digital modes in the 'not voice' category.
Likewise, allowing QSO points on 6m, 2m, 70cm, etc.as contacts on separate
bands is ok with me. As an alternative, a single 'band' called 'six and up'
is ok. What ends up as the detailed definition of an acceptable contest
QSO is NOT my concern.
What is important, as Gene in MIF said, is that those parameters be
specifically defined before high noon on the second Saturday each October.
.... and we can't all even agree on why that's important (hihi)! I know
that there are different perspectives on this, but as a software writer,
I simply want to know what to write.
It doesn't really matter what is decided - only that, as a contributor to
the event I'd appreciate it VERY much if the contest committee could put aclearly defined set of operating rules in writing. When that happens, you
will see better software from all those who endeavor to write it, and you
will also see more hams getting more enjoyment from PA Party weekend!
The contest committee doesn't have to change anything... but more clearly
stating what a 'band' and 'mode' is would really help.
Take a deep breath, enjoy the party, and make sure you say 'HOWDY' when
you hear the Outlaw Wireless League Club call -K3OWL!
....less than two weeks to go; the countdown has begun.
