04 OCTOBER 2004

Amid the noise about the W3UU Bonus Points operation, someone who will
remain nameless but whose callsign is...well, never mind...made the
accusation that the current record club aggregate score set by the
Frankford Radio Club in 2002 could not have been achieved without including
the score of the very successful W3FRC Bonus Points Station. This is
absolutely not true. In the years in which I have been the PA QSO Party
coordinator, which includes 2002, the Bonus Points Station score has not
been included in the club aggregate score of the club sponsoring the Bonus
Points Station.

So.....

AS A STATEMENT OF FACT, FOR THE RECORD; IN THE PENNSYLVANIA QSO PARTY FOR
THE YEAR 2002, INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF THE FRANKFORD RADIO CLUB, OPERATING
SEPARATELY FROM THE W3FRC BONUS POINTS STATION, SUBMITTED TWENTY THREE
LOGS HAVING A TOTAL AGGREGATE SCORE OF TWO MILLION, SIX HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE
THOUSAND, ONE HUNDRED FIFTY (2,625,150) POINTS THUS ESTABLISHING THE
CURRENT, AS OF THIS DATE, CLUB AGGREGATE SCORING RECORD. THIS RECORD SCORE
DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SCORE OF W3FRC, THE BONUS POINTS STATION OPERATED BY
THE FRANKFORD RADIO CLUB IN THAT YEAR, WHICH, IF IT WERE INCLUDED, WOULD
BRING THE TOTAL TO OVER 3.3 MILLION POINTS.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR FACTS AND VERIFY THAT THEY ARE, IN FACT, FACTS BEFORE
STATING THEM AS BEING FACTS.

AND NEVER, NEVER BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU SEE ON THE INTERNET UNLESS YOU
PERSONALLY KNOW AND TRUST THE SOURCE FROM WHICH IT CAME OR CAN VERIFY IT
FROM ANOTHER SOURCE.

On the subject of Bonus Points Stations (BPS), as a condition of being
granted the status of the being the BPS, we request that the sponsors
follow the same logging and reporting procedures as other stations
competing in the party. But has anybody considered that since they are
non-competitive, i.e. they're essentially just handing out contacts, they
really don't have to follow any of the party rules and are bound only by
the rules established by the FCC? Chew on that a bit.

Have a great party folks!

Chuck, K3CM
