[PaQSO] Viruses

In addition to the virus software which was mentioned,
there are other things you can do. I never keep
people’s email addresses stored in any mail program, I
have them separately, so that way no program can raid
my address book. Also, Windows seems to be targeted
almost exclusively, since it is the predominant
operating system. You may wish to consider other
operating systems, such as Linspire. These are less
prone to the attacks, since virus authors and hackers
really don’t want to bother with more obscure OS
formats. There are also many other advantages too.
The only drawback is that certain modems will not
work, so you must wiggle around that issue if using
dialup. This OS can be installed on a regular PC.
There are actually around 150 operating systems,
according to what I have come across. Many good
choices to play around with.

Oh yes, make sure you have a good firewall too. The
virus gurus are getting more slick. The days of
opening attachments getting viruses are behind us.
The new troublemakers are more sinister.

Hope this helps. People are always warned of the
risks involved with computers, but since viruses keep
making the rounds, I guess they don’t listen? I’ve
never had one.
