I think it's a great idea and yes, I would participate.
The only suggestion I have is to consider 2 points for each CW contact.
This is a nice incentive for folks to dust off the keyer and do the
dits-n-dahs.
Question: Would there be a break such as the one in the PaQP? Sure hope
so, I like that break.
I'm anxious to hear what the contest software programmers have to say about
this.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Thanks.

Subject: [PaQSO] Mid Adtantic QSO Party Ideas and Other stuff
Hi Gang-
I had a couple direct responses toward maybe going ahead with a Mid Atlantic
QSO Party in the Spring-
Here is what I'm looking at right now-
Proposed weekend of May 8 & 9 2004 - Nevada and Oregon have state parties
that weekend but I think they are small contests and are not oriented
towards the east coast.
Eligible States- PA, MD, VA, DE and WV would be the theme states. The object
basically would be to work as many counties in those states as possible as
ONLY those counties (243 possible) would be multipliers. Anybody anywhere
could be worked for points. Multipliers are counted only once.
Scoring - 1 Point per valid qso with a fixed or portable station including
rovers
2 Points per valid qso with a mobile due to the added degree
of difficulty with contacting those stations. Mobiles could be worked again
in each county operated from in the 5 state region.
To keep things simple each station could be worked once per band
regardless of mode. All of the contest bands on HF, VHF and UHF would be
allowed. All entries would be single operator stations.
Final score would be points x multipliers.
Proposed awards: Certificates: High score from each county where at least 50
qsos were made. (25 for mobiles) High score for each state. The
Mid-Atlantic Champion.
Special certificates: Worked all counties in any of the 5 states.
Endorsement for more than one state. This is a real challenge.
Is there anyone out there who could do the software for logging this and
would be interested. Any others wish to express thoughts as to whether you
like the idea and might participate?
The decision has not been made yet to definitely try this event for 2004.

ON OTHER TOPICS- I have separate cards for when I am operating fixed or
mobile. The mobile card has a place at the top to plainly identify my county
and state of operation and a rough photo of me in my Pocket Rocket Mobile.
............................................................................
.
In the last PA test I got NP2SH on 2 bands from the mobile ...15 and 20.
............................................................................
One final note- you may not be aware of it but I sponsor a free "Found The
Elephants" award to anyone who qsos WA3EOP in 6 or more states. 22 folks
have already managed to claim that award and there are probably 40 or more
who only need me on one or two other states to qualify.
