RE 160 meters for FD,

Quite a few years ago I operated the 160 meter station at a big 5A or 6A FD.
I believe I ended up with a couple of hundred contacts. I don't think there
was any activity until around 9 PM or so. I would say that if you are
operating 4A or more, it might be worth having an antenna, but otherwise it
is not worth it. And a lot would depend on the level of QRN. If there are
thunderstorms within 700 miles or so, it will ruin the band.

If you put up a G5RV that's a half wave on 160, you can use it on the other
bands too, so if 160 is open, you can always spend a little time there.

Have fun,

73,

Hal W1NN
