[PaQSO] "It ain't broke"

I'm one of the advocates of assigning an additional weight (bonus, whatever
we want to call it) to 10-15-20 meter qso's in order to increase activity
west of the Mississippi and with DX. I recently stated this in an email to
this reflector. This enhancement would certainly not be to my (the person
suggesting) advantage as I use only wires in my portable operations.
Therefore, the detriment, if there is one, is to me. On the other hand, the
advantage is to the contest as a whole in that it would hopefully help in
eliminating the perception of it being primarily an intra PA contest.
This certainly does not in my book appear to be a change that would fit my
strengths and preferences. It would however help the contest as a whole.
I totally agree that operating skills, good antennas, etc, etc, are key
factors contributing to a good score. However, many of the suggestions I've
read over the past week or so would simply make me consider a more intense
strategy rather than consult an attorney.
Folks, this is what makes this reflector so great, being able to share ideas
and opinions. As I like to say, this is all good stuff.
Thanks.

What in the world is wrong with considering a tweak here and

favorite contest. >>
What is wrong? Incessant tinkering, typically to the advantage of the
person
making the suggestion, and the inevitable detriment of someone else is
what's
wrong!
Every suggestion I've seen advanced here in the last few days would benefit
some scores and hurt others. Is that how we win contests in the 21st
Century--by changing to rules to fit our own strengths and preferences?
Guess I'm a dinosaur, I thought that a good score resulted from a
combination
of good antennas, a good radio, great operating skills and staying in the
chair, not by being a "contest lawyer"
