One year in the early~mid 90's I operated at W3OK (DLARC club station-NHA) 
using a multi-band inverted-V with apex at 90'.  Was able to "Run" on 160 
with 100 w., worked a bunch of CA sections and many from here to there.  CW, 
of course.


OTOH, when operating at N3GWR/3  (PIK),we've tried a number of different 160 
meter antennas--none high, and always parallel with el. power lines because 
of site configuration constraints.  Results have been "unimpressive".  

I think the height of the antenna is the key for good 160 performance.
