[PaQSO] ONE OTHER WAY TO SPICE UP THE SCORING IN PAQ

Let me understand this correctly...if we add QTCs as a scoring feature for
Sunday's edition of PAQP (to give us some gosh darned reason to have a
"Sunday" from the first)...the whole contest will come topplin' down because
QTCs are too hard for people to understand and/or or it will frustrate the
poor lads out of the contest....(???).

First, many if not most of the operators in PAQP are General or Extra Class
operators...yet these poor fellows can not be counted upon to read and
accurately interpret the rules of a contest? Give me a break. If they find
the use of QTCs too confusing (a 5 year old kid can understand the rule
pertaining thereto), they do not have to use them or can decline to receive
them.

You want I should solve everything?

As for having to wait while someone copies a QTC....well...too bad. That is
the vagaries of contesting....you are free to move along and find someone
else to work or come back later if you feel it's not in your interest to
wait. These same fellows who may have to wait a few are the same who will
wait for hours on end to work rare DX....and if they decide it's not to their
competitive advantage to wait,,,well then...just don't!

I have never understood the "We gotta do it like this cuz we always done it
this way" attitude so typical of Hams. PAQP is a great contest....but most
of the ops on here seem to feel that Sunday needs a little boost....and QTCs
MAY be one way to do it, even with all the changes in software (ye GODS!) or
that you may have to write something down (!) for a change instead of
crancking in one more Q into a computer that spits out your exchange for you,
logs it, and sends you on your merry way.... all over again. LOL.

I am only suggesting...that we try something.......NEW! (at least for PAQP).

But of course, this will always bring out the Happy Chorus of Nay Sayers who
were the same lot who said NO! to AM in the spark days....NO! to SSB after
AM....there is nothing new about the Nay Sayers: they are a comforting
constant in a sea of change. LOL.

So we will plug along with a PAQP Sunday that seems dead,,,digging, looking,
searching for the ONE last station we have not already worked on God's Panet
Earth...a Great Testament to "The Way it's Alway's Been Done!"....while a
simple rule change allowing for QTCs or maybe spliting the
mults by mode could have made things a little more exciting.

Either way, I will be on having a good time...but it still amazes me how
regressive Progressive Hams are! LOL
