[PaQSO] Thanks!

Try as I may, there's always someone special who is so deserving of a
"thanks" that I accidentally leave off my list, so I'd like to take a few
bytes and do it this way:

	- The mobiles:	What you folks do is absolutely insane. You spend
hours sitting in a car, driving hundreds of miles, many of them through
rainy, thus dangerous conditions, then spend the night possibly in the car
but hopefully in a motel that provides a few hours of comfort and a warm
shower. That's assuming you can find one. The whole time spending lots of
money. Hopefully because you enjoy it. Thank you all for being where we
need you, just at the right time.

	- The rovers: You're just as whacked. You go to a predetermined
spot, put up antennas, many times in the same crappy, rainy weather, then
sit and operate for several hours in a cramped vehicle. Then you may or may
not go to a motel, grab some much needed zzzzzzzzz's, shower up and do it
all over again the next day. Then there are those that may re-enact this
scenario several times each day, just to give the masses those rare counties
- all because you enjoy it. A very special thanks to you too.

	- The portables: You gotta be nuts to lift your whole station,
drive many, many miles to your temporary home away from home, usually a
cabin in a somewhat desolate area, or maybe even a tent, put up several
antennas, set up the entire station again, and hope the heck you didn't
forget anything (like the CW paddles, I won't mention any names, but that
had to be a real butt buster to have to work SSB allllllllll weekend when
you really want to be working CW too). You're also more than likely
spending a lot of money to be in a cabin, probably by yourself, for the
entire weekend, because you love giving out that rare county to the bunch.
My hat is off to you and thank you very much for your efforts.

	- Home stations: Yes, I would be remiss in not thanking you folks,
for you make up the vast majority of the contacts in this fabulous contest.
There are probably many of you who would like to try the mobile, rover or
portable "thing" but for one reason or another simply can't. Without you
this contest would be quite empty, so to you my special thank you for being
there in the pile ups, trying to make your call heard.

While I've certainly enjoyed each and every year of this contest (portable
since 1991), this year seemed special for some reason. Sunday's always
seemed to be tough, hard to stay awake at times kind of days in this
contest, but this year the Sunday activity rate meter seemed very good, and
I had a blast.

None of us are getting any younger and I must say, each year I'm able to do
this and have the fun that I have is very special indeed. So, thanks to all
of you for giving me that pleasure and allowing us all to share one heck of
a great weekend with one another.

Thanks!

Bob, N3FR (portable WAR)
