Hello, All!
It's gonna take a little while to compile my raw score...30-odd paper logs
and all...
Murphy was NOT kind this year. Four counties in, the receive sensitivity on
the 706 just went away. I HOPE that there is just a protection diode or lamp
on the recieve input...the transmitter is fine, VHF/UHF are fine...I thought
it might be a coax problem, or a submenu hiccup...Verified the transmit, so
it isn't the coax...reset the processor....1 second to wipe out a years
worth of programming. OOOF!
I switched over to 75 meter/backup rig (the Yaesu 747-SX)...and that
developed an intermittent receive audio problem, which may be filter related,
since the thing was suddenly as broad as a barn door...NOT good in PA QSO
party conditions!
The northeast corner of the state was interesting, too. We got to detour
around flooded areas, except for one that we had to go through...time to get
the suspension cleaned and relubed!
I have realized that life with a single HF rig and no tight filters or dsp
is no fun! I've been ruined in my old age!
I'll have a raw count late tonight or early tomorrow!
Thanks to all for a 'fun' test!
