[PaQSO] Let's get another great discussion rolling - FOOD

I've found over the years that if I eat too heavy a meal during a contest, I
tend to get a little lethargic for about an hour or so afterwards. This can
be disasterous if I'm running with minimal sleep about half way through a 48
hour contest.
I've found that a few small "munchies" (as opposed to a full meal) during
the bulk of the 'test works better. That, and I keep some water bottles
handy (and away from the computer keyboard!) I also tend to drink too much
coffee, Coke, and Mt. Dew, but I just hate the de-caff stuff.
During PaQP, when operating alone, I'll tend to have a good lunch around 11
or so before final prep. I'll try to take a "dinner" break around 5:30 to
6:30 depending on propagation on whatever band(s) I'm on. I now stop
snacking about 9 PM, since munching afterwards tends to go directly to my
waistline. And Sunday morning, I'm usually up between 7:30 - 8, have a good
breakfast then, and another meal break around 12:30 to 1. When I'm home,
the boss will light the grill around 5:30 and shortly after 6, I start
burning some steaks. When I'm portable, I'll try to pack up as quickly as I
can & stop for a good dinner on the way home.

All,
Since this will be my first year portable I started a massive discussion
so I would be in decent shape antenna wise. ANd to all who threw their
$0.02 in, thanks. I've got a definite idea of what I need to be in the
thick of things. Some playing with the DX-CC dipole last night has
shown that it is promising.
But what about the stomach this army must travel on?
You've got everything set up, the contest is humming along, now what do
we shove in our faces? Are PA delicacies such as scrapple, funnel
cakes, Hershey kisses, Herr's and Snyder's snacks, Tastycake, shoofly
pie and cheesesteaks (to name just a few) required to post a top score?
Or just a top chlorlesterol level?
Solid state arteries, the only way to go!

Take care,
Mark
