Years ago, I ran my FT-101B from 12 volts at Field Day. I would use my VOM
to monitor the battery voltage. I would recharge when the battery got down
to about 11 volts. At the time, I was driving a 1976 Torota Celica (how I
miss that car!), and I never had any trouble starting it. I could usually
count on several hours of operating time between charges, even with that old
Yaesu.
Good luck. Unfortunately, I have plans that weekend.
