That's almost an impossible question to answer. It
all depends on the size of the battery, the charge on
the battery when you shut off the engine, how much
you transmit, whether you are on CW or phone, and
probably even the setting on your speech compressor.
IF your engine starts after you had it shut off, charging
depends on the capacity of your alternator.
Why don't you borrow a battery and a set of jumper
cables so you don't have to worry about being able
to restart the engine.
I think you will be able to get a feel for how long you
can have the engine off as it will crank slowly if you are
near a dead battery.
Incidentally, unless you have a deep discharge battery,
running it down low is not good for the battery. I would
leave the engine running and enjoy the air-conditioner!
Make sure you work AD8J JEFFERSON from every
county you can. We plan to have a station on phone and
one on CW.
